Activities and Maps

We try NOT to cancel any activities, but the older we get, the more things can change.  Please check the website, or call or email the activity leader,  or call Bobbi @787-8654  to confirm events.

If you would like to receive an email about where and when some of the hikers in The Villages hike, you can subscribe to the yahoo group site:  http://groups.yahoo.com/thevillageshikingclub scroll down near the bottom and hit the subscribe button, to unsubscribe, there is also a button there.  You do not have to live in the Villages to attend these hikes.

To all Florida Trail Members and Prospective Members:  Please be considerate of those members with sensitivities to various chemical or scented products.  Some scented products such as hair sprays, perfumes, scented deodorants, sunscreens and scented body washes can trigger reactions such as respiratory distress, coughing, migraine headaches and other asthmatic type symptoms.  We ask for everyone's cooperation to accommodate other's health concerns by trying to use unscented products before attending a recreational or work hike.  If you are using a long-lasting clothing insect spray, please try to spray a few days before the event to give time to air the clothing.  We appreciate your help.

Firefly and pot luck in the woods hike - Sat. Mar.28
Meet at Lake Norris trailhead at 6:00 PM. Bring a dish to share and we will transport the food and your chairs to the camp by car while we hike the 1.5 miles in. We'll enjoy the sunset, watch the birds soar over the lake, and have dinner around the fire. Then after dark, around 8:45 PM, we'll hike back and see the fireflies along the trail. This is a very easy level hike along a forest road and a lot of fun for kids too. Bring a chair, flashlight, bug spray, jacket, something to drink, and your dish to share with serving spoon. We will provide plates and silverware and lots of fun under a new moon. No pets allowed. Email Diane with your RSVP and what you plan to bring at Dammiller@aol.com - 352-205-9620.
